Broadway's Bryan Cranston and All the Way Take Home Top Prizes at Boston's Elliot Norton Awards

The 32nd annual Elliot Norton Awards ceremony took place on Monday night at the Wheelock Family Theatre in Boston. The ceremony was presented by the Boston Theater Critics Association and emceed by BTCA President Joyce Kulhawik. In addition to the presentation of awards, the evening featured live performances by the nominated musicals which included Stoneham Theatre's Thoroughly Modern Millie, Gold Dust Orphans' It's a Horrible Life, and the Wheelock Family Theatre's Hairspray. ALL THE WAY wins Outer Critics Circle Awards Best Broadway Play and Actor!

 The winners of the 2014 Outer Critics Circle Awards have been announced. A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder led the pack with a total of four wins, including Outstanding New Broadway Musical. Bullets Over Broadway and The Glass Menagerie both took home three awards, while All the Way won Outstanding New Broadway Play. To read more, click here.

ALL THE WAY wins NY Drama Critics Circle Award!

The New York Drama Critics' Circle gave top honors to the Jeanine Tesori-Lisa Kron musical Fun Home, as well as Robert Schenkkan's All The Way and the American premiere of Conor McPherson's The Night Alive, following a meeting of its members May 5. To read more, click here.

Nominations for the 2014 American Theater Wing's Tony Awards were announced this morning at 8:30 AM. ALL THE WAY was nominated for BEST PLAY, and Bryan Cranston was nominated for BEST ACTOR. Other plays nominated this season are: ACT ONE by James Lapine, CASA VALENTINA, by Harvey Fierstein, MOTHERS AND SONS, by Terrence McNally, and OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, by John Patrick Shanley. The actual award ceremony will be June 8th at 8:00 PM EST at Radio City Music Hall and broadcast live on CBS. Hugh Jackman will be Hosting the event.


Nominations for the 2014 Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced this morning at 54 Below by Academy Award winners Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez and two-time Emmy and Golden Globe Nominee Fran Drescher. ALL THE WAY won 5 Nominations, more than any other play. To read more, click here

Schenkkan appears at Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC

On Sunday, April 27, at noon, Robert Schenkkan will be in Washington, D.C. at the Shakespeare Theatre Company doing a panel discussion at 12:10pm at their AsidesLIVE Symposium. The topic is: WRITING OUR HISTORY. The panel will be moderated by Drew Lichtenberg, and included DC's own playwright, dramaturg, and artist - the astonishing  Jacqueline E. Lawton. Should be an interesting conversation!
