A NIGHT AT THE ALHAMBRA CAFE - Robert Schenkkan has joined the creative team of a new musical, which will be workedshopped in summer 2008 at the Kranert Center, U of Illinois, Champagne Urbana, Ill. Team members include Megs Booker (director), Shem Guibbory (violinist/musical repertoire and continuity), Rinde Eckert (writer-performer), Laura Crow (costume designer), Robert Dahlstrom (set), Robert Wierzel (lights), and Daniel Moses Schreier (sound).

ANABASIS: According to Variety, Columbia Pictures "has acquired a pitch for an adaptation of "Anabasis," a memoir written around 400 B.C. by Xenophon, a Greek soldier who was among 10,000 elite mercenaries who attacked the Persian Empire and who led them back through hostile terrain after their leader was betrayed and slain. Script will be written by Robert Schenkkan, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright who just served as writer and co-producer on HBO miniseries "The Pacific." Jimmy Miller will team with Robbie and Jonathan Stamp to produce under Miller's Sony-based Mosaic label."
ANDROMEDA STRAIN: Robert Schenkkan's 4-hour miniseries adaptation of Michael Crichton's Andromeda Strain for A & E aired in Spring 2008, and is nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards, including Best Mini-Series. The project starred Benjamin Bratt, Christa Miller, Eric McCormack, Rick Schroder, Daniel Dae Kim, Viola Davis, and Andre Braugher, executive produced by Ridley Scott and Tony Scott, as well as David W. Zucker at Scott Free Productions , and Tom Thayer of Traveler's Rest Films. Mikael Salomon ("Salem's Lot") directed. It is now available on DVD.
"Crichton's novel focuses on the outbreak of a deadly bacteria that reaches Earth via a downed satellite. After the bacteria wipes out a small town, a team of scientists rushes in to try to limit the damage."
